DIY suspension fitting

  Clio 200 Black and White
I'm thinking of swapping from KW coilovers back to OE on my trophy.

How difficult is this to do? Can I do it myself on my driveway or do I need some special tools?

My big concern is that I will need to change the front hubs - is that a difficult job?

I may also need to change the bearings, is that possible with normal hand tools?

All advice welcome!

Expect to see a set of 6000 mile old KW V2 coilovers on the market soon - or PM me an offer!

Have a look at the guide section mate. From what i've heard a few of the bolts (top mount) can be hard to get off. Why would you have to change the hubs? Have they been changed originally?

yeah the previous owner switched out the hub for some reason - possibly because the KW doesn't fit a Trophy hub? Not sure if the 172 / 182 / Trophy etc all share the same hub design?

Is it difficult to switch out the hub? Do I need special tools?

Will I need to change the bearings in the process?

The 172 and non-cup 182 have a different hub to the Trophy/cup pack'd 182. Different bolt spacing. Sounds as though the KW's are for a 172, hence swapping the hubs over.

Warren, I saw your PM and could be interested - just need to sort out the swap first. If you know of any sachs rear dampers going spare, I'd really appreciate it!

Are the bearings the same for the two different types of hub?

Not sure on the bearings fella, I'm sure Fred may know!. The rear dampers are rebadged Renault one's (I think), available direct from your local friendly renault stealer. There's a few people on cliotrophy running with the sachs fronts, and koni adjustable rears, might be worth seeing if any of them are selling.
Better get 1st refusal for the help I'm offering;)

Thanks for the input mate - I'll keep you in mind come sale time, although it won't be for a couple of weeks.

I had a look at the hub removal guide in the guides section yesterday, but I will actually need to go a stage further a split the hub from the hub carrier (hub meaning the disc that the brake disc sits onto), does anyone know how to do this?
