DIY Wheel painting

  Honda & VW
Well after having a couple of new tyres put on my Mini recently it came apparant that one of my BBS R90's was losing air which turned out to be due to a small crack on the inside edge of the rim.

Bit of a bugger as i had just bought the car but these things happen, anyways i looked at buying a brand new genuine BBS R90 but the price put me off somewhat:w00t:

Instead i decided to look about getting a good copy, after a week of searching i got my hands on one for a very good price however the only issue being that the wheel was silver and mine are silver and black.

After it arrived i went to get some primer, paint and laquer and set about matching this one with the others.

As i was totally out of masking tape i opted for some green insulation tape along with some ripped out pages from an old kitchen catalogue (improvisation i here you say )

Then once the wheel was masked i then realised i would need to cover the 'bolts' up so off i went into the house for something to use.......

White Tac was the chosen product, great stuff it was almost purpose made for the job lol

any way heres a few photos of my first attempt to paint a wheel.........
(Unfortunately i forgot to take a photo prior to masking it up)

Is there any laquer (sp) on it? As it look very dull or is it because they are matt black? Good effort.

They are satin black mate, opted against the laquer as I felt it would look too shiny. This one matches the rear pretty damn well.
I did put a few layers of sealant on however.
