Dnamique tyre

Well after popping my tyre on a pothole (f**king useless council) it looks like I'm going to need a new one.

Any recommendations? will i need to replace both front tyres for it still to be legal?

What sort of price will i be looking at?

Sorry if all the answers are obvious its just I've never dealt with anything like this before.

thanks

you only need to replace one tyre, as long as its the same size as the other one on the front. Basically, on one axel, both tyres have to be the same size. It doesn't matter what make.

Ideally, if you're replacing one front tyre, replace both. one 3mm tyre and one 7mm tyre will not make for good handling.

Cheers daniel, ill give a few places a ring tomorrow. Mega pissed off with the council though, i got piss wet through on a country road changing my wheel due to a moon sized crater of a pot hole on a blind bend, lucky i didn't bush it!

If your cars got the correct tyres (185/55/15) then it might be an idea to go to 195/50/15 as they are a fair bit cheaper.

Would that not mean replacing all four tyres?

i dont realy understand all the numbers business which is why I've asked on here so i don't go into a shop and walk out with 4 new tyres at £200 each or something daft like that!

No. Front tyres have to be the same size as eachother, but can be any make on either tyre.

Rear tyres have to be the same size as eachother, again, any make, like above.

But you can't have the two nearside tyres one size and the two offside another size.

Tyres on the same axle (ie front or rear) need to be the same size.

HAve I explained tha properly? I'm tired! lol.

195/50/15's in a medium range tyre should cost about £40 each from somewhere half decent.

They won't pay for a new tyre either btw. Only the cost of what was used.

Sorry, I've got mixed up. I meant what is left. Assume a tyre has 7mm of usable tread and cost £100. If that tyre only has 3.5mm of tread left, you'll only get £50 for it. As its 50% used.
