yeah u dont want to risk a void of your policy, alsong as your insurance company allows mods my old one didnt so had to cancel and take up with another.

Whats worst...... paying for your alloys in the insurance for a few ££

Or

paying for a hole new car, cos your insurance was void

lol..... its worth it mate, hopefully u will never need to claim but things happen

other thing to think about here, is that a claims inspector wouldnt be able to tell the difference between dynamique wheels and mk2 172 wheels

Da

  Less

true, but if he had to claim say for a replacement wheel then surely hed just get a 15" dynam alloy instead of the 16" 172 which he would need.

well loads of insurance companies wont insure me if i have mods such as alloys, can anyone recomend me some companies which are usually cheap and good with mods??

cheers

Id normally agree but in this case i would claim they were fitted from new. Is it any different that i have 17 inch factory wheels instead of the standard 15s? Did all 182 owners with the Cup pack mention their wheels are painted a different colour?

My insurance compay asked me if i had anything other than standard spec INCLUDING any factory specced options over and above the std car. It didnt cost me anymore but i did have to declare the cup spoiler and suspension pack and tell them the wheels etc were different.

you do need to tell ur insurance company. with my last insurance i changed things on my car and wen i rang up to renew it i told them some of the changes and they said they couldnt insure me. you even have to tell them if u change your head unit as it changes the value of the car and there is more risk of it being broken into.

Heres a quick guide:

Did you car come from the factory with 172 wheels?

Answer: No.

Therefore it should be declared.

182 owners and Cup packs and no Cup packs - thats a seperate topic all together.

I had a quote on my mums insurance for £500 odd and when we mentioned the mods ( just backbox, k&n, 172 alloys, springs) they bumped it up to £1400 which is ridiculous!! i need a good company for young drivers and mods!!!

Ahhh so its not just wheels then? Golden Rule - check how much a mod will put your insurance up by before buying.

I must have said this a thousand times on here, but if you cant afford the insurance hike, dont do the mod.

cupcake i have told them about all the mods at the moment but am due for renewal and had a crash earlier in the year which is still unsolved but the insurance company are pretty sure they will get all the money back as there was oil on the road. I am looking to change insurance companies and some dont seem to care about mods but others go nuts over them!!!

so i did check first with my current insurance!

Well when i crashed it was on a country road and the police and i noticed oil over the road which should have been cleaned up, this was noted in the report and nowrich union persued it and are confident that the responsible council will pay for all the claim so it shouldnt affect my premium and i will get the excess money back.

Just got a renewal with CIS for an exellent price, all the mods declared and they added nothing on!!!!

Recomend them!

you do know that CIS replace all mods with OE parts if you have to make a claim

nothign modified will be replaced, it will just be binned and replaced with stock parts

I am not really bothered as they didnt increase my premium because of them and i dont have any really expensive mods, thanks anyway..
