do touch up pens work ?

my 182 has a patch of paint that was stripped off when the previous owner dropped brake fluid on it. Will touch up paint help cover it up ?
Ive seen a few of them on ebay relatively cheap

No, if it's a big patch you'll see it a mile off.
Touch up pens are for small stone chips and such

Yeah touch up pens only really do a decent job on stone chips in my opinion ad even then it depends on the colour of the car! That said years ago when I was a sales manager at a Ford dealership I sold an Escort (make me feel old now) prior to it going out some moron had dented the wing, my mate who had previously run a body shop which had closed had set up as a local smart repairer...I called him to see if the dent could be removed, he confirmed it needed paint. But then asked if we had a touch up stick...he then basically filled the wing, blocked it off and painted the 30cm patch with the contents of a touch up stick (poured the paint into his gun and thinned down) the job was unbelievable!

anyway it’s a ‘cool story bro’ and no help to you but every time I see a touch up stick now I wonder how he managed to do that, but when I spend hours prepping a stone chip it looks like I flicked paint on from about 5m away!
