That las pic is just an indication of where that last mark is.

Ive had a load of hassle with these wheels already. :dead:

Any advice?

was it defianately a wheel refurb you paid for?

a place that powdercoats mine will not refurb the wheels, they only coat them, so i know from experience that if i want them mint i have to get them refurbed elsewhere beforehand.

I've seen these myself in person - not what you expect from a well respected refurber tbh.

I hope you get them sorted mate. Defo look sweet on the car.

Apologies Russ, lots going on in my head at the moment.

It was actually me AND Russ that noticed this.

Annoyed isnt the word.

id say dodgy to be honest. But still in most cases you pay for what you get so if you didnt pay more then £150 thats the sort of job i would expect tbh. How much did you pay if you dont mind me asking . . .

Did you go via Fred ?

Kind of. Not his price though as i was too impatient. They know me through Fred though.

Going up to see them now to see what they say. Russ, fancy tagging along to see what they do?

in that case get on the case fella, they have blatently done what can only be described as a lazy job. They have been lazy on the prep work to get a finish like that

This is a f*cking outrage, I've been f*cked over by wicked wheels/wheel works UK, I thought about taking my wheels to the wheel specialist instead, but that's clearly not a good idea!

First pic is where the paint has reacted or has been sprayed on too heavily, and the second pic is where the prep has been rushed, looks like filler that has been applied too thin and then sanded down leaving a dip.

F*cking awful tbh!

In my mind, second rate (well fourth rate if I'm honest, I've refurbed wheels in my garage that look better than that) work like that should not leave their premises, that is not a minor blemish but a major defect in the work.

I still have those in my consevetory. and tbh im strugling to see which ones look better.

Just got back and they are going to refurb 3 or the 4 alloys (the one is fine)

Also the center caps will be re lacquered.

I think i may have accidently put these guys in a bad light. They are very professional in what they do it just seems i have ended up with a bad batch. They are doing all they can to remedy this issue without any quarrels.

Pretty happy with how things are moving forward at the moment.

What condition were they in before??

Blisters, corrosion etc etc?

To be fair they were in pretty bad shape but the faults are on both ends.

Some theirs and some of the Alloys.

They quickly recognised the problems and are going to be sorted. :)

Some people have totally over-reacted in this thread and I don't think appreciate what work goes into refurbing.....i.e a lot of time.

Granted it was not a first rate job in places, but it's hardly a disgrace as some people have hinted.

Glad you've got it sorted and it's reassuring to know some companies are extremely accomodating to their customers and are happy to sort out issues asap.

cheaper than them direct (£170 for a set of 16's with me)

i never let wheels leave i'm personally not happy with, but on the down side, if the wheels are s**tters to begin with there's only so much that can be done, Pedro did mention his wheels were pretty bad when he originally bought them, the wheel specialist will tell you the same, if their badly corroded etc etc then there's only so much that can be done

Fred whats your turn around for refurbing ? Got 4 182FF alloys wanting done in Anthracite again... Slight kerbing to 2 and other 2 have mild scratches

That's unusual. I know for a fact Brian at the Leeds franchise of The Wheel Specialist wouldn't send wheels out like that.

In the picture below, sometimes you get that happen due to the corrosion, as sometimes not all the corrosion can be removed fully. Also, some finishes do create that sort of effect occasionally(such as flash chrome and black chrome) as it is a wet paint applied over powdercoat, then a powder lacquer applied over the wet paint.

Oh I'm sure you're an expert and you've refurbed many sets of wheels!:rasp:

I have also refurbed a set myself and I know just how much work it is, however professionals use tools that significantly cut down the man hours required, yet I can usually get a better finish :S
This is because companies get greedy and all they care about is volume rather than quality and reputation.

The wheel specialist seem to be handling this in a fair manner, however wheelworks uk (see my thread in the traders section) were very unprofessional and have no desire to deliver a quality service.

Agree with you there! Did a set by hand and a set by air tools! My god how much easier it is with an air sander
