Does anyone recognise this silver MK2 172?

Hi, put a deposit down on this yesterday. Just wanted to know if anyone off here recognises it? Its had a few owners prior to now.

2003 52 reg. 25200 miles, full Renault history. ( 4 former owners )))
mint condition though. £6.3k sound alright?? :S

I know hardly anything about cars HOWEVER, 4 owners with 20k milage? something must be wrong with that in my opinion, i dont wanna spoil it for the seller but then again i dont want you to buy a messed up car. and for 6 grand you can buy a very very nice one, i seen some cheap ones for 3 - 4 grand with decent milage, check them out. If you havent done any research so far just wait a while and im sure you will find a better one mate, but like i said i dont know much about cars so just my 2 cents good luck.

btw isnt it 13k average per a year per person, 4 people so shouldnt that be 52k average? people must have been desperate to get rid of it

I really don't want to piss on your fireworks here, but I would not personally touch a car that had had 4 owners in 4 years. Well, not a clio anyway. Not all the owners can have been bored with it nor couldn't afford insurance, tax petrol etc. I would be a tad bemused at its people history. Personally speaking I would look elsewhere.

I understand what your saying regarding the previous owners. But i feel its the sort of car someone buys on impulse, then realises the cost of insurance, fuel and tax etc may be un-affordable. Two ways of looking at it really as you all have mentioned. I dunno Its a solid and well looked after car. Just would be nice to know a little more history...

dont give it another thought bud, the garage could have been the first owner, etc etc. looks like a minter wouldnt even think about it again, just look forward to picking it up.

the thing you have to consider is that the car may have been registered multi-times by the same family.

our old punto had been owned my my mum, then my dad, then my mum again, and then my brother. so 4 owners without leaving the same household. However with the clio, the sport in particular, i think that running cost is a factor as most people will not realise how expensive they are, so when renewal times comes round they think get rid.

if the book is fully stamped, and the condition is good then who cares about a number on the log book.

lol, a lot cars are also pre-regd.

My megane was on 5owners in the first year, pre-reg, then lease company then the guy whod owned it form new inc the lease, the me and then sold again.

Looks decent rob, what happend to the black 182 (not the look a like, thought youd bough one them???)

my car had 5 or 6 owners when i bought it on 33k. It's on 65k now and has been great, no major problems

If condition is good then what's the worry?

Is it an import? If so there will be two owners on it before any miles are put on the clock.

Don't stress about the owners....I'm the fourth owner of my 172 and it's in bl**dy good condition with very low miles.

One of the owners of my car was the garage anyway so could be the same with yours.....just check it out fully and go for it if it's all good.

just trace all the past owners and find out who they were, i bet 2 of them are dealers or a garage

Got the HPI done today.

No. of previous keepers 4

Most recent keeper change 21/11/2005 (he said he's had the car a year) so that adds up
Dates of other changes 04/08/2005 (He bought it from Renault Stockport, so this could be the garage registering it)
29/01/2005 (The first real owner)
25/03/2003 (Registered a month after it was made, this could mean it was a demo)

I'm happy now

I put a deposit on the black 182, but my insurance payout was delayed (By 1 month) So i pulled out.
