I've just been thinking about how much I'm spending on the car at the moment and how I just buy things as and when they come up. I should budget but I don't.
How does everyone else do it?

lol. I got around 700 left over each month, wish i could spend it on my car. I'm using it to repay credit cards quicker.:dapprove:

You dont budget for mods, you have an aftermarket version of the OEM part that has just broken!!:S

Then sit back and wait for next months surprise.:rasp:

That said, barring shocks and exhaust, mines been good, and its my daily/commute drive.

I budget for the mortgage, council tax etc lol

I normally treat myself to something once a month, not always car related actually more often its not.

I think I've done it wrong, I've spent 2 years spending 0 on mods, then I buy a house, have less cash, and start modding the thing...

I used to budget for stuff going wrong.

Like oh s**t, better put £400 aside incase something else on the Valver implodes.

Haha, nah, if I had spare cash at the end of the month then use that to buy shizzle.

IMO a lot of mods are just throwing money away...they really don't make a justifiable difference to your car. After an ITG filter and a Janspeed exhaust (and soon upgraded pads) I've decided to save all the money I would spend on modding for my next machine...I've already banked nearly £2k but I must admit I've been tempted by a GDI conversion along the way *must resist*

I agree to extent with the above however 99% of the mods I do to my car are reversible and will be sold on again come sale time when the car is put back to standard.

just buy as takes my fancy when it comes to my car

Yeah thats why you have spent a small fortune on it!

Im just jealous though....i'd have buckets and H&R's in a heartbeat if i wasn't so careful with money.
For me, i tend to work out what i've got left every month and budget for bits.
This month has been springs...next month will be brakes.

Budget for the house and stuff, nothing else gets money spent on it :(

Pretty much the same for me

As far as the 172 goes I'm just going to look after it with proper servicing but I'll just upgrade stuff like brakes etc when the OE ones wear out.

I'm in a similar situation; i have money yet have spent very little on my 182. I'm the sort of person, who looks at new cars pretty much everyday, as opposed to modding my Clio. I think I need to just buy one major thing, then i wont be able to stop! Next thing i'll have Ben's number on speed dial..Lol.

I just buy things when I see them, although I haven't really modded my car, just a few bits and bobs.
