Does lowering affect warranty

  C4 Grand Picasso

I want to lower my car, with 35mm springs only, and was wondering what effects this would have on my warranty. I realise that if the shocks wear out prematurely then Renault will blame it on the mods, but is that it, could Renault blame the springs for anything other than shock damage?

Thanks in advance for any help.

PS: The only mods my car would have are 16" 172 wheels and the 35mm springs.

they couldnt blame the springs if there was engine damage or anything unrelated to the suspension side of things

other than that your fine but ur best bet is to go into ur dealer and ask him about it first

My dealer said that the parts that would be void are

Your springs !!

Shockers

Wheel Bearings

Track Rod Ends

Shockers If they do go Ktec do uprated ones for better handling anyway.

Wheel Bearings There only £20 I think plus maybe 1hr to fit so no problem there

Track Rod Ends No idea what they are.

If your only going 35mm there its like driving round with a load of weight extra in the car Renault design the car todrive round all the time fully loaded with any warently work.

It shouldnt matter Ive not heard of any suspension problems related to normal or moded setups I wouldnt worry.

What spring are you getting Im thinking of getting a different setup as the handling is abismal standard but Im not sure what to get maybe a full kit I need more information.

it can void some areas of the warranty but it depends how picky the dealer is.some dealers arent bothered.

Cheers for all the replys, it looks like Ill just go ahead with lowering, probably get some -35mm PIs or similar.

Yeecup - youll be glad of the warranty if something major happens like your catalyst pipe breaks or your clutch gives up after about 16K!!! - Thats approx £900 of work I had done in the first 6 months!!

Warranty - 3 years - worth a lot of money - id make completely sure first!!!

Renault can only invalide the warently on the moded parts and the connected pieces ie moded ECU leads to the whole engine being invalidated but a moded brake setup doesnt invalidate any engine warently.

How many people have had majour warently work which mods are to blame for its very small. The clutch on the 172 isnt massivly stong so warently work can be needed on any 172 for this.

Also if the part doesnt brake in the first few months it unliky to break at all there are graphs showing the breakages vs time of parts its high initially but very quickly goes down as manurfacturing defect are quicky found out so work needed at 6 months is originally manurfacturing defects come to light.
