Does My 172 Need A Service

Hello All.

I have searched on this topic & called dealers but get conflicting views.

I have just bought a 2000 X RenaultSport Clio 172 Mk1 with 13,000 miles on the clock. I believe the service intervals are 12k or 24 months. The previous owner got it serviced after 24 months, which was about 10 months ago.

As it has passed 12k do I need to get it serviced now or can I leave it until another 14 months have passed? The car has an extended warranty so I want to make sure my service book is all in order.

Darren

The tollerance on services is +/- 1000 miles so by rights it is too late for the 12K.....

Common sense says ( to me anyway) the next service should be 12K or 2 years after when your first service (completed on schedule) was done. However Renault and common sense dont always go hand in hand !

yeah its 12000 or 2 yrs, whichever is sooner. Although if u call reno theyll tell u the opposite and make u loose your warranty! NOBS!!!!!!!!!!

So the car was serviced after about 8000 miles so should I get it serviced then when it has done a further 12k from that mileage / 24 months from that service whichever comes sooner???

A further 12k from that mileage. Some dealers put a little sticker on the inside of the windscreen, on mine it says 23,000 as I had the first one done at 11,000.

That would be my logical interpretation but I wouldnt like you to loose your warranty if Renault are saying different ! Try and get a definative answer off Renault (lol).

The Renault web page has a questions bit perhaps try that (they have answered fairly quickly when I have tried it). Or try the phoneline 0800 0723372.

Where abouts in the country are you ?

Just take it in for a service if you arent sure.

I would take it in for a service straight away, and change engine oil, filters, brake fluid, maybe transmission oil.

It is better to be over-serviced than under-serviced
