does NCB expire so to speak ?



  MK3 GTI golf 16v
basically i have 1 years no claims, if i was to not be insured for a year and then went to re-insure my car...do i still have the 1 years no claims? because ive heard that it has to be consecutive years or something so if i was uninsured for a year i would loose my NCB

any help appreciated, leigh

As long as you don't leave it more than 2 years you're good (not sure if it's different for various insurance groups but most will say your last insurance must have ended within the past 2 years.

bit of a cheek really imo, i hate insurance

After a 2 year gap from driving, the risk you present to the insurers is much higher than someone without the driving gap, hence why after 2 years you lose the NCB. Makes sense to me.
