does suspension stiffen or soften?

This might be obvious but would new suspension soften up or stiffen up?

Stiffen.

What do you mean?

Do you mean will the ride get more forgiving or do you mean will the car sit lower or higher?

The spring rate won't change, but the springs will settle, meaning the car will ride lower.
