Door sill question

  Lotus Elise S2 111S
On my 182, halfway along the doorsill (with door open) there is an indentation that looks like a small dent or weld, but is on both sides halfway down. Was worried I'd bough a cut and shut at first, but when I lifted carpets etc, all was well! lol

What is it?

think its just a join line in the chasis. A little bit like the dip in the passenger foot well, which is normal.

I have them too. I know they're used to line up the Renault branded doorsills which you buy from their accessories catalogue. Dunno if they're used for anything else though.

Yep all have them, one of the first things I checked out when I was looking to buy as I saw the join/seam, and thought, 'aye aye, hope that's not cut and shut!'

without looking at it, ide take a guess n say its a crumple zone (when in a smash this area is weaker and crumples to take some of the force away)
