Door Speaker wiring

I got my new door speakers today. Im a complete novice to this so I need some help please!

Going into the standard speaker is an adapter type thing, with two wires, one pink I think (its dark!) and the other white.
My new door speakers have a large spade connecter (plain coloured wire), and a small spade connecter (with a stripe).
Which wire connects to which? I assume I just have to cut the old adpater off and join the wires.

Thanks!!

Are there no + or - markings on your old speakers or the adapter to say which wire is positive and which is negative? The alternative is just to try the wires either way round and see which sounds best.

With mine they worked one way around, but not the other, cant remember on mine which was which, but shoud say on speakers.

As for joining the cables up, its a case of cutting the plug off and either connecting on teh end of the wire wiht spade connectors, or just buy the corretc size spade connectors to fit the speakers, on mine the larger one was a standard size, and the smaller on, i picked up a pack of 4 for a quid.

On mine (late MK2) it was a case of which way round sounded best, I used a couple of straight couplings and added about 6" of new speaker cabling (with spades) onto the wires left when taking the old ones out as the extra length comes in handy.

You may also want to watch where you tuck the new wires and maybe get rid of the foam wrap around the electric window wires etc in the pod as I found they vibrated and buzzed once Id moved them to fit!

If you dont want to cut any wires then you can buy adapters so the white ISO plug remains in tact.

I fitted my speakers today. I took your advice Timmy! there was a bit of buzzing, but moving all the wires stopped that.

I couldnt really hear much of a difference between which way round the speakers went, but it all sounds ok, so its all good.

Thanks for all your help guys!

That was gonna be my next job! Cant you just pull out the plug going into the speakers, or are they not the same as the door speakers?

where in the world can i find this!!! nowhere stocks it! halfords/motorworld/ram/motormania/charlie browns dont.

The positive wire is the the one next to the clip on the white plug.

The colours of the wires vary from door to door and car to car. Just make a note of which wire is nearest the clip and use it as +ve.
