Drilled airbox

has anybody drilled there airbox if so do i need to disconect the battery for 1 hour before using the car again

Dont do it mate !! The car will suck in lots of hot crappy filled air !!

you dont need to disconect anything.my mate did it to his sh*troen ax,put about 40 holes in the thing,at first it sounded quite sweet but just got louder and louder.cheap skate!

Never been convinced of the worth of doing this, I think its better to make sure you have a good cold air feed.

If the airbox is away from the engine..like sitting next to a panel you can drill holes on the side next to the panel. You wont get gains but youll get a nice noise..better than any filter which will give you 2bhp IF you get it set up..people go OTT with filters on here anyway..

Yeah do it.

Drill a couple of largish holes in a shielded area put a cold air feed to it - better more subtle noise than an IK, no power losses like an open IK, and with a replacement panel filter - possible slight gains as well.

Dont worry about the discon of the battery.

MAKE SURE YOU DRILL IT BEFORE THE FILTER SO THE AIR STILL GETS FILTERED.ON THE NEW 16V ENGINES(NOT 172) JUST REMOVE THE SILENCER BOX BEFORE THE AIRFILTER BOX AND REPLACE IT WITH IT WITH A PEICE OF PIPE.YOU WONT GAIN ANYTHING BUT YOULL GET THE NOISE.

Silencer box before the airbox? where mate?

ON THE NORMAL 16V ENGINES THERE IS A BOX HELD IN PLACE BY A RUBBER BAND THAT HAS THE INTAKE PIPE ON 1 END AND ATTACHES TO THE AIRFILTER HOUSING AT THE OTHER.THIS IS JUST A SILENCER,PULL IT OFF AND YOU WILL HEAR WHAT I MEAN IF YOU GO FOR A BEZ AROUND.THIS IS ONLY ON THE NEW NORMAL 16V ENGINES NOT THE 172.

ANY IDEAS WHY ALL MY LETTERS HAVE GONE BIG EVEN WHEN I PUT THE SIZE TO 1?
