Drive other cars 3rd party

Which insurers provide third party cover on other cars with your policy? I'm 21 with 2 yrs NCB.

Don't think many will offer that, I was told I have to be 25 before any insurers would let me loose on any vehicle third party.

No, Third Party Liability whilst you are driving another vehicle is not generally available except when

(i) the vehicle does not belong to you and is not hired to you under a hire purchase agreement,
(ii) there is no other insurance policy which insures you and
(iii) the vehicle is not being driven to secure its release following seizure by, or on behalf of, any government or public authority.

Am I misunderstanding what it says because those exceptions seem to cover most situations (i.e. a friend says you can borrow their car for the day - (i) the car doesn't belong to you (ii) you only have insurance with CIS (iii) you're not using it for any of those reasons)?

I know, it's a really strange way of putting it. They're saying generally you're not covered except under most circumstances. lol.

Quinn do it. Well they did I heard they have stopped it for any new policies. But im 17 and im allowed with the owners permission provided its not a 4x4 or van

As well as them covering you on it, it's always worth having it in writing on the policy. My ones from Elephant (when I was with them) didn't, until I asked for it to be added on to it.

doh I wish my mum didnt drive a 1.4 8v 206. Might see if I can get a spin in my cousins 20v turbo fiat coupe. probably the fastest thing in the family atm

Love insurers, sounds like they've made that deliberately vague so they can wiggle out of a claim.

Think you have to be over 25 for Tesco, as is the case with most of the big insurers.
