The clamp is loose though - possibly snapped. Can i just use one of those ones that you screw to tighten? Oh, and just any grease will do?

has to be cv grease.

I used two cable ties on mine after all the metal ones i tried failed.

Really you should use proper clips, cable ties dont tend to stay on very long as you cant get them tight enough! You can buy proper grease from motor factors in little pouches!

Ive used jubilleeeee clips on mine. But be warned a few curse words will be flying around. I had a right nightmare fitting the jubilee around the boot and shaft....very very minimal amount to play with....probably just had crap jubilees.

I used a jubilee clip on mine, went on no probs. However I've been told that cars with ABS have an ABS sensor down there that is likely to be hit with the screw drive on a jubilee clip? Can anyone confirm this?

U should sort that out quick mate if u aint done already. myne did the same thing, grease went everywhere, eventually the boot split and filled the inside with s**t an now the drive shaft is knackered!

Get some smaller ones just incase..the spare ones will probably help to hold another part of your French car together;)

As said use a jubilee clip. Thats what the mechanics at Renualt tend to use instead of messing about ordering up a new kit which in anycase is 30 odd quid excluding fitting and you cant buy the clips seperate

Apparently the newer Renaults if you have a split gate or need a clip you have to buy a whole drive shaft i was told !
