You won't have broke one you'll have damaged those stupid little clips in the gearbox (thats there technical name).
You can easily see if there broken just have a look there the piece of long round metal connecting the driveshaft to the gearbox and to the hubs there one on each side.
one of my drive shafts broke last year. Not sure why it broke but the abs light came on and the abs wasnt workin. was easily changed tho. Just try breakin hard to see if ur abs is still workin. can be dangerous as the car can slide under brakin
Make sure u get the driveshaft for your exact year and model to. i found out the hard way that they have 2 different kinds of shafts for early 2001 and the late 2001 1.2 16v models lol
Not sure but that split ring doesn't look healthy, can scan the relevant haynes manual pages for removal/refitting of the driveshafts if you want, let me know.
Mine got all the 1.6 relevant stuff in, though being a haynes manual the actual cars probably completely different to what they say :dapprove:.
Says there a roll pin to be removed to get the driveshaft out of that thing above (techincal terms i know) and it needs a new one fitting when you put the driveshafts back in. Assuming you've taken the pin out I can't see why you can't get the new shaft into it. I'll have a look what dialogys says about it.
