Ph1 driveshaft wishbone subframe dilemma

Hello, I have had a search on the forum and looked at various threads but would like someone with the knowledge just to give me a full answer.
As ph1 driveshafts are difficult to obtain decent ones, I have seen a thread where it lists some options, but says the closed length is 734, and I think it was the skf one stating 740 I'm just about done with it

What are my options on changing shaft length to later models that you can get shafts for easier and what's the best route.
Basically what do i need to buy?
182 subframe and wishbones? Then I would increase the caster as well I believe as well as the track with?
Also which variant came with the two piece shaft including a bearing carrier? What's needed to convert to this?

You can run a ph2 subframe on a ph1 and vice versa. You’ll only really run into issues if you run a gripper lsd, as the shaft will bottom out in the drivecup of the diff.

Running a ph2 subframe would then let me run non ph1 drivershafts then?

Cup packed 182’s had different hubs. That’s it

172 cup had different wishbones to increase castor, but you can’t get them anymore, but other than that, yes the same.

yeah they all had the same wishbone then except the 172 cup. I think the 182’s had cup spec wishbones as well, but as they’re NLA it makes no odds lol

Nah ph1 subframe is narrower than the ph2’s mate. But only where the wishbones bolt up.

Okay perfect, what comes with a bearing carrier etc on the long shaft? If I'm changing the subframe and shafts, is this worth doing? Presume it'll bolt onto my block or wherever it goes

Yeah should just bolt up to the back of the block

I am in a similar boat, I don't currently need a driveshaft but it sounds like it might be a logical step to just update the subframe to ph2 and not have to worry in the future.

Couple of questions:
1. Does running the ph2 subframe physically increase the track? I assume it must if it impacts the drive shaft length but then I don't understand how the ARB will fit if the lugs on the wishbones will have increased their distance.
2. Is there a source for CV joints alone? I see a number of them of sale on the internet but everyone on here seems to steer clear and replace the whole shaft, but with them becoming more hard to come by I wonder if people have started replacing just the CV joints themselves.

Not sure if you've sorted shafts yet but on my Ph1 I changed to the 182 cup subframe, wishbones, ARB and the equal length shaft setup with centre bearing on the driver's side.

I bought brand new genuine Renault shafts that I still have, they've done minimal miles as I broke the car for spares not long after but I kept the shafts for another project that I've never finished.
