Driveshaft reconditioner - how to find one?

Checked with Renault to find my drive shafts are 191+VAT a side.

I've heard people talk about getting them reconditioned. What sort of places do this sort of stuff and how would I find them? Is it just your standard engineering metal works kind of places?

Thanks.

  Ph1 172 & meg 225 lu
i bought a set from my auto factors that were refurbed (exchange basis) think they were around £80 per side

i've not used them but was told that the RS shafts that ECP/GSF supply (?) come through a company called Drivelink http://www.drivelink.com/

might be worth checking round a few companies; GKN, etc

if you find a cheaper-than-OE-alternative, could you maybe share findings?

  Lots of Alfas
I know of a company in Worcester, I used them through my mate, they turn them round in a day. Did both of mine although they say mine were "unique" and they charged a bit more. Ive emailed him for contact details.

  197 ff albi
i got both sides for £250 from renault, cardiff renault wanted 191 a side, bridgend was A LOT less, check around it may be worth it

  Clio 172 Cup
when i went to gsf and euros for my n/s shaft they said the could not get them for the cup

I was expecting that when I got there. Although GSF did ask if it had ABS or not and despite here surprise that it didn't that didn't seem to mean they didn't have them. I'll have to take the old one along if I decide to go for that option.

I need to try and contact a reconditioner direct as well.

  Clio 172 Cup
i got one from motor parts direct in the end but it vibrated like a b**ch on pull away so i then got a good second hand one and have never had a problem, oyea and a 182 shaft wont fit i had someone tell me that they are the same as the cup, WRONG lol

Just an update:

Drive link say they'll take a look if I send it in and see if they can recon it. Probably about 100 quid if they could do it he said.

But I think I'm going to stump up for a genuine one as there seem to be lots of bad reports of reconned ones and seeing as I do some motor sport that involves standing starts it's not going to have an easy life. I'd try a second hand one but I'm not sure I can be bothered with the hassle of the "will it be a cup one or not" when it arrives. I've tried the specialist clio breakers and non of them have a cup one.
