Driving with lights on

  Titanium 182 & 306 Diesel
Got told the other day that most Clio sport owners on here drive around with there lights on day and night.

Is this true? if so I might have to start doing it:rasp:

I normally just leave my auto lights to come on but seen quite a few driving in the day with Xenons on?

i let the auto lights do it. (dont think i have ever turned them on using the sick) if peps have a dirty sensor then they may come on when its a bit brighter

I drive sometimes with my side lights on. So other cars whicjh pull out in front of me know im on the road.

i drive with my lights on on my daily route to work simply because of the tw*tty buisnessmen and chavy boy racers who overtake on blind bends and also because of long roads that are so surrounded with trees that it's dark due to lack of sunlight...

My lights come on when they turn on automatically. If it's really dull or bad weather I'll switch them on myself.

I turn on my lights if I'm going to be on a country road and overtaking lots which happens frequently - just like motorcycles having loud pipes and lights on makes you more visible.

Better safe than sorry

Always lights on when making progress here to.

Sidelights on all the time anyway as well, makes the car look shiner ! :clown:

Likewise - makes sense. Also during rain/spray (it suprises me the number of people that don't). Although during normal driving I find myself "lighting up" before the majority of muppets out there do when it starts to get dark.

I deactivated my auto lights as they were a PITA. Always got confused going under small underpasses and I assume most of the "wear" on the bulb is during lighting/extinguishing, hence it's not clever to always have them switching on or off constantly (better to have then either on or off properly).

i drive with lights on all time no matter if its sunny or raining, if its morning or night. do that not coz its cool but improves safety on road, every1 can see me and tbh am quite surprised that it hasnt been imposed by law in this country yet. Feel sorry 4 all of u who think that lights should be used only at night.

ally did i see you on the stirling services roundabout today? saw a cupra the same but it went off a different exit before i caught up
Nah, not me this time. Car's been in my garage all day, won't be driven today because I've already had a beer :D

Tbh I think peoples perception of when lights should be used is ridiculous.

Lights are not designed to just allow you to see where you are going but for others to see you.

People say..."I only use them when they are dark...". How about in the rain? When the sun is low? etc...

I cannot see how it is disadvantageous to car drivers (to bikes ok...) to keep your lights on at all times?

IMO it should be made law.

Why would anyone drive with their lights on in the day when it's light? :S

I usually turn mine on out of habit when I start the car - there's a fair few countries where you have to do it.

To be honest it makes it much easier to judge how far away / how fast a car is travelling. Hard to explain unless you've spent a bit of time somewhere like Finland and then come back over here.

I used to drive everywhere with mine on for the same reason above ..
To improve safety and to make sure I was seen by people.

Mind you, the amount of people that used to flash at me for having my lights on during the day was huge. lol

Bloody Volvo drivers are the worse, always got their sidelights on... ;)

I can see the point of always having them on, but I generally put them on when visibility is approaching poor. Never use just sidelights though, either fully on or off.

apparently i read somewhere they are tryin 2 pass laws so we have running lights on everycar just like the volvos! it helps 2 have them on as people are more likely 2 b able 2 gage how far away you are wen they want to pull out from a junction! this is backed up by strong evidence that darker cars are involved in more accidents! this is what ive heard!

^^ True.

Some MEP tried to push for it but bike pressure groups resisted, arguing it would make bikes blend in more and CO2 emmisions would increase (FLOL).

I don't know where we are at with it now but IMO it should be implemented.
