Tried the 18v Makkita impact.. Didnt even budge :dapprove: ... Mine came off really easy but johns just wont budge, loads of corrosion/rust on them but they have been soaked in WD40 for 2 days so thought they would come off a treat
First time the wheels were in the air, second time on the ground, just woulnt budge :dapprove: , will see if we can get hold of a small blow torch to heat it up
Ask a local garage (small outift will be best bet) if they can impact them loose. So long as nut is moved up a little will be reet easy once you get home.
No harm done driving a short distance like this either...
When we looked me and dave couldnt find a 21 swan neck spanner for love nor money.
I found a 21mm spanner easily from my local tool shop :S
I got them to run the top mounts off completely, then wire brush the threads and then just do them up again a bit so I could get home.
Then once off I cleaned the threads up nicely on the shock and inside the top mount, then as said put some copper slip on once i had it all assembled again.
should be able to find one off the shelf if you shop around - Halfords (?), bigger motor factors who keep good tool selections, ironmongers, tool shops, etc
We tried the spark plug socket method first but it wasnt havin none of it, think the best method will be a quick stop at the local garage to crack them off & drive it back, tried halfords, CAF, Staines Autoparts & few other places in the area & none had it, either 19 or 22 mm .. never mind, next weekend! guess i was lucky with mine, sprark plug socket method worked first time :approve:
