DVD formats!! only a quick one

I've got a alpine dvd headunit in my car and trying to make a music video dvd collection. What format do i need the video's to be in? I've tried putting them on as mp4 but it comes up as disc error so i guess they need to be in some other format

it needs to be dvd format the dvd's are mpeg2 but in a vob container

Probably as a DVD = VOB files etc.
