ECU not communicating

  Clio 172
Hi guys, problems problems, im new to the clio and if my luck doesnt change then will go back to mitsubishi!!
the current problem...

Battery flat so jump started the car with jump leads. (have done this before!) car wouldnt start so took to local mechanic, he suspects the ECU is faulty as it wont comms with the reader when he connected it up to the ecu to find the problem.
has anyone experienced this and what is solution??

Headache...

I'm guessing the red immobiliser light is on ? You need to get a GOOD fresh battery on there if that is the case.

How can you tell? Very rare for an ecu to be faulty in my experience. Normally always a wiring or battery voltage problem

I removed my loom and on refitting had exactly the same issue. Red immobiliser light and no ecu comms.

It turned out that bolt holding the engine to dash loom together wasn't tight enough to make a proper connection.

Remove the scuttle and wiggle the loom connector at the back right of the bulkhead then tighten the bolt.

For a start... check the engine management fuses, no comms with ECU & non start, means ECU lost the 12v feed. Very common thing, and especially in a jump start condition :)

Thanks for advice guys but have got rid of car. Will keep looking for a track car.
Was due to buy a 182 with cup packs today for the misses as a valentine pressie but let down again. F---ing ebay!!. My experience with RS has started badly....if my faith is not restored soon will go back to mitsi evo for a track car.

Cheers all, Laurence.
