ECU Reflash 'Virginising?'

Ok so this weekend coming the white Clio should fire up, but i believe the ECU needs clearing first. The UCH and ECU are from a silver phase 1, the key belongs to the white 172 so it doesn't match the UCH and ECU.

Is there somewhere in Essex that can do this or is there a reliable company i can send it to with a quick turnaround?

Cheers, can't wait to hear the ol girl fire up

Not sure on the colour, i'd have to check it tomorrow. I 100% know the UCH and ECU are from the same car as I took the engine loom and interior loom from it

Cheaper and easier to get a blank key and get it coded mate. Keep the blades for the locks obviously ;)

Ok Jonny, so what's the procedure. I take it you mean the plastic fob part of the key? Also how would i be able to 'code' the key, assuming you mean the same code that's on the ECU? Blank key direct from Renault, E Bay?

Apologies for the questions, i wish i sorted this earlier in the project build

Yeah mate. Fob doesn't have to come from Renault, but you will guarantee it's a good one. All that's needed is to code that to the matching ecu/uch set. The only issue you might have is getting hold of the immobilizer code from the dealer as you need the v5 which I presume you won't have. There are ways to code them without it, but not sure what kit is needed for it

Correct with the V5, the 172 was broken for parts so i have no reg number, VIN number to hand. Wouldn't clearing the ECU get past dealing with the key scenario?

not really mate because you'll have an ecu which won't recognise any key. Plus the UCH CAN'T be re-coded. I know a guy who can get codes, but you'd need someone to code the key for you. If you were a little closer i'd have sorted you out ;)

Saying all that, if it's a ph1 ecu, you can have an emulator put on which basically bipasses the immobiliser code. Not sure how this would work with your scenario. Jord and Adam used Andrew Cooke to do theirs. Maybe send him a pm to find out your options.

The emulator sounds like a possibilty, i've actually just sorted the registration number from the car the ECU and UCH came from. I could ask my mate to dig deep with it and come up with the VIN number, Fab number etc, would this then give me a chance of getting the immobiliser code?

Indeed, a shame you're too far

Reg should be enough. Can't remember if the code is in the fobs on the ph1.
