ECU's confuse me :(

The story so far....

1.2 to 2.0 ltr conversion - Compression test passed although did burn the starter motor out in the process :(

Current problem is the ECU/wiring - The engine (Clio 172 Cup) i have got came with all the wiring all ready attached etc including the ECU,uch, decoder ring and so on. The imobiliser light is flashing constantly even when turning the engine over, therefore im thinking it could be a problem with the UCH,plip.

I have two alternatives so i need some advice which i should go for...

1. Keep all the wiring and blank the ECU (also remap at the same time) and hope it works
2. Replace the whole wiring with a loom from a 172 FF with the ecu, uch, decoder ring. (will be a cheap option as i know a guy who owns a breakers)

Both options will need me to splice some wires from my 1.2 loom to get the ABS, PAS working. I am using 172 FF hubs, calipers etc so include the speed sensor thingy, is it a problem that the gearbox also includes a speed sensor or will it depend on which ecu i go for?

Thanks for the help
Carl

I'd hope your using the 172 ABS syetm if your using there axles or esle are you swopping the front rings for 1.2 ones.

Doesn't matter if you have a gearbox with a speedo sesnor if you don't need it depends what loom you cna get persoanly I'd make a custom one and use a full fat loom cut out al you don't need.
