I've just drove home from work with no probs...I've just gone to start the car again and it's struggling to start ....will start but is struggling to run trying to cut out+ black smoke from exhaust and smell of eggs.

The lights been on and off on the dash for a while now.

Are these the symptoms of a dead cat converter?

Thanks

No dont think it helped Daz. Just borrow someone elses sensor, its the black thing on the RS inlet, L/H side iirc. Only push in.

Thanks

Other one should be around the manifold area. Best way to check for a dud cat is to unbolt the cat at the front of it, then try and start it. If it starts and revs fine....

the CAT wouldn't cause this though. The lambda does nothing post CAT, so even if the cat was broken the flow wouldn't be much different, unless it's in pieces inside.

Sounds like the map sensor from daz's post tbh. Hope the new one sorts it.

Yeah I'm thinking it's the map sensor from daz's post.

I'm confused though with the lambdas....which one is the one that actually does somthing ?....is it the one on the cat or before the cat?

Thanks

Any tips on getting the map sensor out?

Don't fancy it snapping off inside?

Thanks

Will washing up liquid do?

Also best just to pull it straight out or one side first?

Thanks

Yep, should do it. Just give it a slight twist and be paitient. Doesnt go too far into the inlet iirc, so shouldnt give any problems.

Since replacing the map sensor...the car pulls like a train.

Is this just me or does a map sensor make that much of a difference?
