Got a mk2 ph1 1.6 8v s plate 98 5door.
1> what would the drop be
2> would it be ok on standard shocks with 17's on

with it being a non sport model on 17's, from what i have just been reading they drop up2 50mm, not sure now if i should go 4 the pro's

think i might go 4 the pros now as it lowers about 30mm

They wont drop it anywhere near the stated drop mate. Also, you can lower non sports 60mm on 17's without a problem.
