Eibachs at last

  RS clio 182
Ive had my clio 182 for over a year now, due to the rear springs falling to bits, i decided to buy some eibach springs. Just had them fitted and the car looks and feels much better....kinda wish i had done this earlier now.
Now im tempted to upgrade the exhaust, thinking milltek.......anyone had any problems?? Is there better exhaust systems??

Alright mate, what's the ride like now with the Eibachs? I am contemplating getting them you see.

Milltek aren't bad. Some issues over the welds cracking, but I think that's been sorted now?

I have a KTR/Janspeed system on mine. It sounds ok tbh, I only got it as my original one fell apart!

A lot of people go for Yozza, but it really does depend on how much you want to spend. I got my KTR one as it was the cheapest s/s one I could get and it had a life time warranty etc.

The K-tec racing/janspeed one with the slash cut tail pipes is the one I have on my 182 and it is a beast! I got the supersport version with out the middle silencer and its perfect. Its not TOO noisy but has a really awesome grunt when you're getting through the revs. Doesnt sound boy racerish and lairy but still sounds awesome. Looks the business too!

This is the same as mine. It sounds alright, like you say, it's not a rude boy exhaust!

How come man? I actually emailed someone at Ktec and they said that eibachs do pt extra strain on the shocks but if the shocks are ok they will handle it. You heard horror stories?

Its not but it is enough to give it a nice tone though huh? Ive actually had numerous girls sit in the back and say they love the sound my car makes...these arent petrol head girls either :D

I wouldnt trust the shocks. Consider the time and engineering that goes into the design of the shocks at standard height and spring stiffness, rebound time etc. Then you change all of the above.
The shocks are not designed to ride lower, stiffer and harder.

It's purely logic that you shouldn't do it. Buy shocks that were ment to ride that low and are designed for more abuse and a stiffer ride.

Also don't ever forget to have all the alignment done afterwards. Nearly everyone forgets too. I'm sure you will find at least your camber angles are buggered un evenly negative and your tracking will be out.

It's only my recommendation.

I would say that the dampers can handle a lot more than the standard springs. The tolerances would have to be a lot higher than just using the standard springs?

Don't know if anyone can shed any light on this?

  BMW 130i
Why would they have to be higher.
Higher tolerances = more cost = bad.

They are not designed to got that low. Could easily bottom out hit the bump stops repeadtly wear them out and break complelty.

We will have to agree to disagree!

Far too late to talk about tolerances of dampers ha ha

Haha! Yeah its a bit too late for all this talk of dampers, but i agree with the comments. If i did have the money i wud upgrade the shockers aswell, but the rear springs were actually falling to bits....(there was pieces of spring on the drive). So the eibach springs seemed like the best option. And if im honest it feels much better to drive (dont forget mine were falling to bits)
And thanks for the advice on the exhaust....i agree, if its a winner with the women then its worth thinking about lol!
Oh yeah, i'll get it cleaned up and upload some pics.

but what about when the car is fully loaded with 4 fat mates?

you can't buy any other shocks other than stock for the 182 cup

you NEVER get the alignment done straight away, you leave it to bed in a bit then have it checked/adjusted

nothing wrong with Eibachs THE BEST springs available

Eibach springs are the best. I never run a car with anything else. Nothing comes close in terms of quality of materials, spring weight and ride quality.

I was never questioning the quality of the springs. Purely that when you get the money get some updated shocks as the oem ones are sure to be shagged very soon because they are not engineered for there current springs.

Eibach always design their lowering springs to work along with a standard shock / damper setup. This is why they aren't necessarily the lowest available; they mainly offer the best performance.

I don't run anything other than Eibachs for this reason, and have run them for years on cars without any sort of damper failure.

I got the eibach proline springs....the ride is a lot better, and i think it dropped about 25mm. I was in a rush to get the springs so i didn't really do much research, so i chose the prolines. I didn't want to go too low and have an harsh ride, someone at work told me to stay away from apex springs. Most people were telling me to get eibach, really glad i did now.

Had a quick look at most the exhaust systems....i love the sound of the black 182 on the milltek website, sounds pretty cool. I live in sheffield and someone told me about a place called exhaust uk?? Ive never heard of it, but im told they custom build exhaust systems for most cars. Any one heard of this place, or should i be thinking milltek/ktr etc??
I noticed theres alot of talk about millteks cracking at the welds. Its quite alot of money for the exhaust so im hoping i can choose the right one!
