Eibachs on 182

Well Ive had my 182 for a few weeks and already contemplating an upgrade!

What difference will the Eibachs make? I sometimes feel as if the ride could do with being a wee bit more controlled would the Eibachs help this? I certainly dont want the car to be slammed or ride like its wearing concrete tyres!

Any opionions from 172/cup/182 owners greatly appreciated

i got the eibachs on mine an love em. the car looks no diff to std really normal drivin is about the same but when you push the car theres less roll in the corners etc.


not driven a 182 yet so wouldnt like to say if they would improve wot yoiu got. def improved the 172 tho.

Not sure about the eibachs, but the 182 is already about 20% stiffer than the 172.

I fitted eibachs to my cup. I reckon:

Cons:


Body roll is higher initially (ie when you first turn into a corner) and this has taken several months to get used to
The lowering effect is minimal (about 1cm) - Id have preferred another 5-10mm to get the wheels centred in the arches (if you know what I mean)
Pros:


Once the body has finished rolling the car seems very stable indeed and seems to grip better than standard
Once youre familiar with the initial roll you anticipate it and look forward to the above
Ride quality is vastly improved - Im on 17s too, and the ride is still smoother around town than on 16s with the original springs
In conclusion, I like them but I just wish they were a tad lower.

Ive had Eibachs on mine since the car was virtually new and theyve served me well. Started using 15"s and slicks for trackdays recently, and now Im thinking adjustable coilovers so I can lose a lot more ride-height on track.

I wouldnt want to upset the 182s ride but can see the advantage with a 172

Would of thought that the cup would of been stiff enough but its all down to personal choice.Dont forget the 182s springs are stiffer again than a cup

Yeah, I agree. Its like theyrer softer over the first 2 or 3cm of compression, before they stop compressing and "dig in". Its off putting at first, but believe me, once dug in the handling is ace.

For the purposes of comparison I test drove a cupd 182 2 weeks ago and razzed it around my favourite big roundabout at about 40mph - it was understeering and squealing its way around, though felt very adjustable with the throttle. But I couldnt go around and keep it tightly pointing forwards as quickly with the 182 as I can in my eibachd cup. So Id conclude that my handling is better - the 182 understeered and lost grip earlier than my cup did. Albeit only 1 or 2mph difference. Worth trying out, and honestly if I thought the handling was worse I would have put the standard springs back on.

That sounds like a good description of the 182s handling, to me there is a definite twilight zone on initial turn into a corner, it sounds like the Eibachs have a similar characteristic tho, I think il leave it as standard for now and just enjoy the car for what it is, a bloody good laugh!

The 182 with cup pack is very much like the 172 on Eibachs, havent driven the standard 182 tho.

Though a few people on here would recomend it.

even on eibachs im not really that happy. its good but not good enough.
