eibachs pics please

Re: eibatchs pics please

I'd rather have a car that handles than one that looks like the suspension has failed.
Seconded :)

There's a few mixed up opinions going on here... I always though that it was the prolines that were less of a drop (compared to sportlines) but better handling, whereas the sportlines were a bigger drop at the expense of handling (compared to prolines).

If people want it to look low and forsake handling, then they need to go the Apex route.

Re: eibatchs pics please

Prolines only have a 10-15mm drop don't they?

if that.

Oh, and that RB 182 up there will lower more on the sportlines due to it not having the cup suspension to start with... so the overall difference will be more.

Result! I dont have cup packs, so hopefully I will see a drop similar to Col.:)

Aye, too much 'slam its on its arse' goes on this forum.

I'd rather have a car that handles than one that looks like the suspension has failed.

Is it wrong to want both?:quiet:
I want it to handle and be dumped at the same time!:clown:
Although i would take handling over looks, just...

Re: eibatchs pics please

People say that the sportlines dont handle as well but why is this? and how much worse are they than pro's?

Re: eibatchs pics please

Any spring set up is a fine line of improving the handling and totally ruining the car.

My mate had an XR2I back in the day and he droped it 60mm and it just spun on every corner. He did a 40mm drop and it drove brill

Re: eibatchs pics please

Mine aren't eibachs but it's lowered the same. 15mm at the 25mm at the front:

Re: eibatchs pics please

ive been the coilovered route and to be honest would only do it for looks, yeah the car handled fukin awesome but not a million times better than my sportline'd 172 which feels just a bit to soft but it doesnt let go.

think ill get a set of koni adjustables for this one too. anyone tried the eibach dampers?

Re: eibatchs pics please

You can see here there isn't a lot in it, especially as the Sportlines are clearly thicker and therefore stiffer giving less 'sag'
When I fitted these I made sure they sat in the gap on the rubber bushes left by the standard springs to make sure they were as low as possible.
On a 'Cup' car they are not much different in height but you'll notice the drop on a 'non cup' car.
handles lovely now!

Re: eibatchs pics please

Bit hard to tell tbh, doesn't look particularly low but then neither spring goes very low. At a guess it's more like Pro's looking at the rear wheel...

Re: eibatchs pics please

I have prolines on mine, and after parking next to a standard 172 you can see the difference, but it's only slight. But the handling is so much better now, it really feels like a different car.

Re: eibatchs pics please

im after some sportlines but after looking at some pictures im unsure, i dont want a really low look, just down a touch and the improved handling ready for my new wheels!

Re: eibatchs pics please

i had some gmax springs on my 1.4 16v. they were 60mm, gave it mental handling on the 16" rs wheels.

but very firm.

all i can say is 172's are lower than sntadard clios but the eibach's give a figure eg 50mm, i think thats from standard, so if your 172 is 20mm lower than a 1.2 16v dynamique then your actually only lowering 30mm.

thats the way i understand it anyway.
got some sportlines at work so we'll soon see.

Re: eibatchs pics please

right so its safe to say sportlines (40mm) lowers lower then prolines (15/20mm)

Does anyone know it the poundage (stiffness) is different between the two??

Re: eibatchs pics please

i have now got sportlines on my 172 and it looks exactly the same and ride is rougher, another great investment! :(

Re: eibatchs pics please

The picture on previous page that I posted of ph1 on autotrader is on Eibach pro-lines I think the bloke selling the car says they are black Eibach springs..

Re: eibatchs pics please

its strange how some people seem to think there poor and others great, also the ride seems to vary so much in height, i know the cup packed 182 is lower than a std 172 but only by 3mm

Re: eibatchs pics please

due to tolerences in manufacturing though you can get non cup packed cars that are lower than cup packed cars!

if you want low dont bother, go for apex but if its all about handling and not changing standard shocks then go for eibach!

Strange that. On my non cupped 182 there was a noticeable difference, mainly at the front. I would have thought your 172 would be similar in terms of ride height.

Dont think it was anywhere near the 30-35mm people are claiming though.
Maybe 20-25mm.
