Electric handbrake and electric windows - 05 Scenic

I know this isn't a scenic forum but know a lot of you know your stuff!
Basically my brother has a scenic and it wouldn't start on key recently. Playing with the loom under the rear seats seemed to sort out that ignition trouble and it now starts. It had a new battery after the last one died but now the handbrake won't disengage and the electric windows don't work.

Any ideas before he gets rid?

Could be a load of voltage faults in the handbrake e.c.u.
Do the windows not work at all or do they go in stages?

The windows don't work at all. He's had a look over all the loom and can't find anything...

Remove the under seat storage bin from the front passenger seat. Under that you will find a rather large connection... Check it and the associated wiring isn't damaged/corroded in any way.

This sounds very much like damage caused by the ingress of water.
