Electric Window

  silver clio grande 1.2
My drivers side window has just packed up on me!!.....
Had it down and went to put it back up, it went up fine and then as it reached the top as i was about to move my hand it made a horrible sound, hard to describe but was loud. Wondering what it was i went to put my window back down which it did do after few attemps and now i cant get it up at all. it's all the way down and makes a grinding sound when i try to put it back up, im sure i can hear something rattle inside when i close the door too. Any ideas as to what this is and how it can be sorted please? Im guessing it might have something to do with the motor that works the electric window on the drivers side. cheers folks.:star:

Probably some plastic bits broke on the motor assembly. Unfortunately Renault don't sell them on their own, and only sell the entire unit, which is around £200.

If it is this, then get the part from GSF/eurocarparts or some other motor factor as it will be far less. £68 when I looked a year ago.

Takes around an hour to fit.

You should be able to push the window up by hand, but the vehicle won't be secure and it will slide down as you go along, so a bit of tape will be in order!

Of course you may get lucky and find it is just something that fell off, but breaky noises are seldom good.

Thank you very much, thanks for the advice on where else to get it too!!!
We had a look last night and the wire around the motor i think it is ,[dont really understand] :S  had come from around the circular, barrel bit and got tangled infront of it, so once we put that back in place we discovered a white plastic bit had snapped which keeps it in place, so think it's a new one of those i need. Managed to get the window up by pushing it but like you said it's obviously not secure, so have not driven it.:star: thanks again
