Electrical problem?

Hi every1, basically sometimes if i try to start the car it will try to start and then after a second the starter motor stops and on the dashboard next to stop there is a red dot light which stays on and after about ten minutes trying it will decide to start i have tried to clean the key take the key out put it back in and lock and unlock the car it wont fix the problem? If the red light stays on, its an immobiliser problem. Only time I ever had this problem on my old motor was when the battery was on it's way out.

battery is fully charged and new mate but thanks for the info, anyone else?
