Electrical problems, Hazards, Windows, Radio Diming

Hi all,

I've been having a few electrical problems with the electrics in my 172 and I wondered if anyone knows how to fix them!


Hazard Lights Flash when Driverside window reaches max height.

This is an odd one, when I raise the driverside window to the top the hazard lights flash once. This only happens if I keep my finger on the switch and not if I use the 'soft close' feature.

Radio Backlight Dims when Braking

Another strange one, when I brake the radio backlight dims (like it does when you switch the lights on at night).


Radio Backlight flashes with Indicator

This one I haven't noticed happening as often but sometimes when I indicate the radio backlight gets brighter/dimmer in time with the indicators flashing! This maybe just happens when the lights are on at night.


I have lived with all these problems for a while but I thought it is time to do something about it.

Any ideas?

this is a drop in voltage causing the lights to dim

my car used to do this but i upgraded the wiring for the alternator and added more batteries since i run audio

you can upgrade your battery to a higher ah/cca also the wiring for the alternator can be upgraded so the alternator can get the most out of it as possible
