electronics Question/Hep

  Bumder With A Buffer
I have a sony mp3 player that i plan to take on holiday... The only problem is sony in there great thinking dont supply/make a mains adapter for these and its only charged up from the USB socket on the PC (nice!!!!).

Now I have a 6v 600mA DC (output) mains adapter that i want to use to charge it. USB only delivers 5v @ 500mA (maximum).

So my question is can i drop the power down of this adapter?? Dont think 6v @ 600mA should harm the unit just being cautious??

Doesn't matter about the ampage, its the voltage thats important. The device will only draw the ampage it requires.

Sorted it without spending a fortune!

The PSU was giving out 9V in the end.... I used a 5v Regulator to "drop" down the voltage (L7805CV). Would of cost me all of 10p if i didnt get it for free from work!

Cheers for your help guys though
