Embarrassing Moment!

Does anyone know what engine, BHP, etc a Pug 106 GTI has?

I was with my girlfriend yesterday and i was behind this gold 106 with a pipe either side, smoothed tailgate and on its arse, i knew he wanted a bit fun cause he turned the way i was going, he put his foot down and i followed, we got to about 80 and could i hell overtake him, there was nothing in it. I was rather gutted to say the least! me thinks i need a V6 clio!

Anyone else had any problems with cars like this?!!!! does anyone know what 0-60 they have?

The only thing that i can figure is that a: i had my girlfriend in the car, and b: i have a set of 17s whereby he only had the standard 14s which come on 106 GTIs.



Someone please make me feel better, should i have stung him!!!???

Buying a new V6 wont help against these little Pugs.

That saved you a few quid now didnt it

some 2000 x plates come with 130bhp as standard same with the vts there are some that rolled off the production line 10brake up

Has to have had something done to it, i used to have a VTR and i got stung off 172s!

The gutting thing is i had an impreza before me little clio! and a Civic Type R before that!

Im sure i will be asking him what hes had done if i see him again! I needed a larger road to be quite honest as it was a 30mph limit which wasnt clever but i WAS just going to draft him then back off... WHOOPS...

Great engines in them mate, my brothers VTS is tuned to 159bhp with just a few simple mods.

They are very good little cars and will hold their own at sub 100s and still go well after that. Much faster than a VTR tho.

i think he might have got confused with the 205 gti instead of the 106 gti, as standard the 106gtis are 121bhp

I know this gets discussed all the time but why do 17s affect your acceleration, most people who get 17s surely get lower profile tyres thereby almost eliminating any difference in rolling radius and therefore acceleration???!!!

Help me cos I sure as heck dont understand!

I have Legerras on so im told that they are the same weight as the standard 16s from the 172?

Although i noticed it did slow it down a tad when i got them on....

Thinking of selling the wheels anyway cause although they are 17s they look sooooo small.... thinking of some others...

I will meet him again somewhere, someday when im by myself and kick his ass! I wont stop until i have conquered!

Mine was RRd with 140bhp just a decat and air filter, will run low 15s 1/4.

Like that dude said above... some come with more than 120bhp out of the box... like mine the earlier ones do... pre EGR valve mounted versions.... newer ones seems to be slower ive found.
