Emissions Light - Clarification?

  TVR Cerbera
I have a 172 cup with a full s/s exhaust and a bypass pipe. i bought the car like it about 3 months ago and the emissions light has just come on.

Now i understand what it is for but how do i get it to turn off?

I've done a search and so far i have come up with:

1. disconnect 2nd lambda and light will go off ( not worked so far)
2. remove 2nd lambda with it still connected, blank up hole and light will go off
3. light will never go off without reno comp reset
4. disconnect battery and light will be reset
5. remove bulb!

Which is it?

if it comes on it won't go off until its reset

remove led is the easy option LOL

GT_GAZ....what did you do with yours to get it to do that?

i've also found out that the second o2 sensor is looking for less o2 after the cat, so i'm not quite sure if the sensor is taken out how that is going to work, unless the computer is just looking for a difference between the two sensors......anybody????

with mine, i plugged the second hole up with a suitable bolt, and left the probe connected to the loom, and just insulation taped it up under the car, i ran this for about 4 months and the light stayed off, and ran perfect

Did you tape up the probe or just the body/loom to hold it in place? What about crap off the road getting on it?do you happen to remember what size bolt is was please?

took the second probe out, taped it (generously) from the connector block all the way down the probe, (so it wasn't exposed)then just zip tied it up under the car, i went to the scrappers and just used an old clio probe (not connected) to seal the hole

So you taped up the entire probe? i thought they heated up and would melt the tape? thanks for your help, least i'm getting somewhere now!

Help, it still won't go off, i've removed 2nd lambda with it still connected, blanked up hole and the light is still on. Will it go off on a 172? or is that just a 182 thing?

  172 cup'd extreme
the light will come on wether you unplug the second lambda or not it will go off when it wants too, mine has come on and gone off in the same 200 mile drive, no stops or anything, i leave the sensor pluged in it find it uses more fuel if you unplug it

  TVR Cerbera
is your a 172? mine isn't using anymore fuel at the mo

Does anyone know which wire i can snip to turn off the light ( near the dash)

Right, i've now put the lambda sensor back and the cat back on and the light is still on.................

does that mean the light needs to be reset and how do i do it?????

if its still on you will probably need a new sensor ive had 3 now in 14k miles 2 used one brand new , the light being on doesnt really effect the performance of the engine and it will normally go off once you have had 4 clean cold starts .
from experience i leave both lambdas pluged in and when the light comes on i ignor it seems to use less fuel with the light on (reverts to standard map)
