emmissions mot failure?

  renault clio 182 cup
Hi, i just put my 182 though mot and its failed on emmissions. I bought the car couple of weeks ago,it has a sports exhaust (inc cat) not de-cat. And a stupid massive induction kit that i plan on getting rid off. But he said it has somthing to do with these to together. What would cure it? a remapp? or just new standard air induction system.

thankyou for your time

induction kit etc shouldnt make a difference

offer him £20 to stick a rag over the exhaust while he tests the emissions ;)

If the lambda sensors are ok, I would question the 'sports cat'. I can't understand the removal of an expensive OE sports cat to replace it with a cheaper aftermarket sports cat.

i had the same problem, my Lamda was playing up - took it for a quick blast up the motorway, some of that Redex fuel/injector cleaner - and then it passed lol make sure the car is nice and hot i was told aswel!

yeah the cat should be red hot when going for emissions test. It does'nt even work when cold

what part of the test did it fail on? what where the readings?
could be as simple as a slight exhaust blow.

What was the readings for the co to start with first thing I would do is give it hell up the road and try again but I have a co test so can check before taking it back for a retest but under 0.90 it's most likely the cat over 1.30 your looking at a lumba fault hope that helps
