I'm getting my car prepared to get sold.

Whats the best way to clean the engine bay as the car has been neglected for a while

and

Would you do it before or after it was serviced with new things like filters and plugs etc.

As to cleaning the engine bay in a V6 I'd get some Auto Glym Engine and Machine cleaner, a few cleaning brushes and a smallish watering can.

When the engine is cold, spray the AG engine & machine cleaner over engine and compenants and work in with brushes, re-apply if needs be and rise with water.

If you can avoid using a stream of water it is worth while doing so, spray the degreaser and allow to dwell. then agitate with a brush and remove it with a damp cloth. Can often be as effective without the need to get anything overly wet.

I would assume hes talking about the Fiat, as the V6 was minter than a minty thing when I saw it last week!

Yeah sorry, should have said. Its just the Fiats engine, so no need to cake it then jet wash it?

Just get some of the cleaners you've both mentioned and then a bit of work.

Thank you.

Always take the safest approach no point dowsing something with water when there is no need.
