Engine check light P0443 Evap emissions control? + misfire

  Arctic Blue 182
Hi there folks, new Clio owner here. Have been aware of the forum for a while and haven't long been a paid member but I now have a small problem and could use some advice.

Having recently purchased the car all is well apart from the engine check light illuminating, and a quick scan of the ECU reveals P0443 Evaporative emissions control purge solenoid (or something like that). Now I have replaced the solenoid with a known working version, checked all the pipes and the connector and still cannot clear the code :(

I've also noticed the engine seems to misfire on idle, and the idle seems a little higher than normal, and also the exhaust smells a bit rich (de-cat aswell). Whilst I doubt this is linked it would be interesting to know the cause, I know these cars have a lumpy idle but this is more of a misfire in my eyes. Fuel consumption seems fine.

Any thoughts? I'd really like to get rid of the annoying light and the low rev limit it brings.

Thanks

Jon

Ok, I think I have the misfire down to the CTS and thermostat, according to other posts on here. Can anybody shed some light on the P0443 code? It must be pretty common as I've found other posts very similar, but there is no mention of a fix...

It's difficult to say exactly without seeing it chap. They do appear to misfire at col idle anyway. As for the evap control valve issue you need to understand how the circuit works. It could be a broken wire rather than the valve itself.

Hi Mick,

I've measured 12v from Pin1 (orange/black) with the engine off and running, however the light has gone out now I've unplugged the solenoid, and even with the plug left disconnected or bridged with a resisistor it is still out. Under what conditions does the ECU command the solenoid to open/close?

Cheers
