Engine check/service

  FF 182
Hi guys, big moment just bought my first CS from owning a 1.2 posting my first thread! But go easy on me as I know naff all about cars just doing ALOT of reading on here learning quickly!

As I said, I've just bought a very decent 182 being very well looked after during its 1 lady owner. Completely standard car but I wish to do a little performance tuning in the near future. However before this I would like to get the engine a once check over to ensure everything is OK. Also it's due a service so could someone recommend what to do/how to go about it in the Essex area please? Rough pricing, good garages, etc. I'm a complete newbie!!

Thanks in advance

Regards, jack

Congrats on getting yourself a tidy 182, It's very, VERY well worth ponying up a measly £12 for full membership here bud!
You'll get access to tonnes of guides, extra boards, plus you'll be able to deal with a lot of Renault specialists and other traders on here which also nets you a tasty discount in some instances!

Belts are a big deal on the 172/182 so if they havent been changed or are due a change - do it. It's a little pricey, but the cost of headwork should it snap is much pricier ;)

And welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum

Engine dynamics are quite near you, or MWM in staines.

Tuning these engines for more power is an expensive and unrewarding task, better to just concentrate on making sure its handling spot on IMHO

Lovely thanks guys! Will sign up now and drop engine dynamics an email.

I was just thinking of a re-map, de-cat and then lower. Nothing too excessive. What would you recommended doing?

Sounds like a good plan, the car responds quite well to a decat and remap. I'm looking at putting my decat back on and having a custom map done at RS Tuning in Leeds
