I'd imagine it would be the same as a 1*2 manifold, unbolt the coil pack, unclip any plugs or breathers, unbolt the manifold and lift off. Make sure you cover any inlets, or stuff some clean tissue in them. Then prepare and paint.

I could only see on my phone earlier, and now I can see on a big screen I can tell you it probably isn't going to be that easy, wait until someone who has a 100% answer before ripping everything apart.

Potentially an easier route - would be to get the K4J (1.4) or K4M(1.6) engine cover, and paint that. Then you don;t have to remove the inlet plenum or anything.
Cover just clips in to place too as far as i'm aware.

i would love to do that, but as its the mrs car, she wants the inlet manifold a matte purple and the plastic cover in carbon fibre wrap. i dont mind doing the work, i just want to make sure that i dont break anything on the way or if there is a guide here i can follow just to be sure.

Not a 100% but i think the inlet is just ducting really and should unbolt away from the engine - you will of course need all the torque values etc to make sure it's reattached properly - plenty of people here have removed their inlets for paining etc, i cant iamgine the attahcment of the plastic Kx manifold being much different.

I'd be interested in the answer too as i've the same inlet/engine type and wouldn't mind touching mine up!
