Engine cover: What is its purpose?

  Nissan 350Z
I see that the Cup does not have one.

Therefore, its not needed. Or is it? What exactly is meant to be the purpose of it, except for it being cosmetic?

How much does it weigh?

  Golf GTD
the 1.2 8v i drive doesnt need one, i reckon its becasue of the supreme power of the engine, it doesnt like being covered up

Basically the idea is that you snap the little locating pieces on the part that covers the oil filler cap every time you take it off and have to buy a whole new cover from renault at their extortionate prices....

.... or maybe that's just me. lol

It must be just you ! You buy the engine oil cover separate from the engine cover ;)
