Engine management light, windscreen replacement?)

  Renault Clio
Hi everyone,

I'm just looking for some advice. About month ago my clio wasn't driving well and the engine management light came on. I took it into a garage and it needed a new EGR valve. This seemed to solve the problem and the light has been off since.

Yesterday I had to have a new windscreen fitted and driving off at the end of the day I noticed that the same engine management light was on at the bottom right of the dash. Is this a coincidence or could it be down to the replacement windscreen and an electrical problem (the windscreen has automatic wipers etc)? Not really sure what to do as the car seems to be driving ok and I don't want to have to pay to take it to a garage and get it on the diagnostic machine if its connected to the windscreen.

Cheers.

Could be just a huge coincidence, I couldn't see it throwing up the EML. I'd get it on a diagnostics machine.

The auto wiper sensor (above the rear view mirror) shouldn't be disconnected when changing the windscreen, or else it will need to be programmed in again.
This is what i've been told anyway, you could always do a simple test and pour water over the sensor to see if it activates the wipers. If not then there's your problem.

If the adhesive gel wasn't replaced or refitted correctly when the new screen went in it can cause an issue but that light could be on for any number of reasons and without plugging it in you won't really know why.
