Engine not starting stright away

Hi,
Its not a sport but worth a try.

My sister has a 1.2 16v dynamic, and recently it wont start for a while after it has switched off. so she was getting petrol the other day, filled up went to start the car again and nothing. left it for a while until I got down there to help her. turn it over first time and worked. happened quite a few times since.

I started this thread originally because someone at work said he had the same problem with his Clio called the AA out and the AA guy cleaned something and it worked fine after. my friend don't know a lot about cars and said it was something next the the starter motor that is magnet and attracts a lot of unwanted stuff.
Wound any one know what this is called so I could give it a try.

Or if you know what else might be the problem I am willing to listen and try.

possibly the tdc sensor, is it turning over when you turn the key or just nothing?

Yeah it turns over and tries to start.

Think it might be the TDC sensor after researching more on the fourm.
could some one just explain what the blue loom or new sensor something along those lines please and where I can get this from?

yeh when you buy a new one you have to buy a new plug with a loom on it aswell, well on the 172s you do im not sure if this would be the case for the 1.2s or not. its a modified plug i think you just cut off the old one and solder on the new. renault parts will be able to tell you for sure, does sound like the tdc sensor too me.

well I cleaned the TDC sensor up last Wednesday with WD40 and the problem has not happened yet.
So thanks for the help, my sister is very happy and I look pretty good fixing it lol.
It was quite hard to get out lol.
