Engine options..

  None

Cant decide what to do with my engine :\ One part of me seems to want me to mod the current D7F engine, another wants me to get a R5gtt engine or similer transplant. I dont need the car to be insanley fast (100/120bhp) would do me fine and I dont wanna get another car either. Anyone have any suggestions??

Will take a lot to get the D7F to that power level.

Go with a 16v conversion or else a mod-ed 1.4 energy to keep costs down. GTT would be nice but will cost, as will 2ltr 16v. 1.8 RSI/2ltr 8v could be an option tho as theyre cheap-as-chips too...

A 1.8 16v would be nice but worried about the dials not working correctly as its a mk1 ph3. What power could a 1.4 energy lump produce when its modded??

  500bhp Scoob

youd get new dials anyway, not as if they cost an arm and a leg for valver dials.

Engine etc wont cost alot due to the amount of people going for the 2 litre route.

1.4 energy lump is 75bhp standard if you have the power steering, otherwise its 80bhp (book figures)

Could even just do an RSI conversion, thats 110bhp i think :)

2.0 8v???

yeah...if you want EFI. If not then you can just bolt the 1.6 BE to the 1.4 Energy head and away you go...probably wont gain much power as the meg engine is only 10bhp more (with EFI) but should gain torque...likely to be in better condition too...

Been thinking about it now. 1.8 16v seems to be my best option now just a shame its gonna need new wings etc. Unless anyone can squeeze it into a mk1 ph3 shell lol

read on a thread awhile ago about someone wantin to do the same, and some ppl said that you need a valver bonnet because the inlet manifold (i think) will touch the bonnet, and the valver bonnet is bigger at the front.

I might be wrong though...just something i read on here a while back

No, you will definately get away with the phase 3 bonnet but it will need slight modification on the underside (IIRC basically just cutting away one of the strengthening spars to clear the inlet manifold)...DIY job...but itll defo fit saving the hassle of getting 16v everything.
