Engine Rebuild.

Hello all.

Have a Phase 1 172 (pics up eventually )

Had a bit of a problem with it when I got it, garage I bought it from told me they were changing the timing belt before I picked the car up a few days after seeing it, and turns out they didn't.

Few days later, driving along, 70mph. Boom. Timing belt goes, engines fucked.

Had a whole top-end engine replacement (paid for by the garage I bought it from of course )
And everything has been pretty decent since, no other problems.

What i'm wondering though, the engine I got put in the car had done just under 40k Miles and it cost £1,600 to the garage for all the parts/labour etc.

I understand you can get Renault to rebuild an engine completely?

Has anyone had this done to their clio and know how much/how well everything is with it?

if i had the money i would dconsider having my engine blueprinted considering as they were made down to a price. but for the gains your likely to expect i think theres better things to spend the money one.

Not really, haven't quite managed the full 140mph the car is claimed to be able to do, main reason i'd be interested in this is because the Chassis has done 73,000 miles, and when it gets near 100,000, the engine will have done 70k, I'd much rather keep the car and have it running awesome than by a brand new car.

Oh and be careful about doing 140mph in the uk, kinda not legal.

just leave it LOL

you will spend a few k on a good engine build, which on a 70k chasis just is not worth it.

i would be saving the cash or buying some good suspension, brakes etc

if you want more power than there are plenty of options too
