Engine sounding coarse on overrun?

Hey,

I just gave the car a wee hoke today and happened to let the car rev down from say 5k in 1st at one stage and the car sounded very coarse.

I recall doing this in the civic and it was really sweet as a nut, the engine sounded very smooth

Not so the clio.

Any thoughts?
