Engine Swap

  Hondata'd EP3 Type R
I need a new engine in my clio, its only a 1.2 8v, and im putting in exactly the same engine. I'll supply the engine, I just need to know how much it will cost me to get the old engine taken out and the new engine installing?

What do i do regarding the engine number if i change to a diff lump?

thanks

all u have to do is send off ur v5 with the new engine number and they will update it for you

whhereare u from i might know someone in ur area that will do the engine swap for u

Only takes about 3 hours to get the engine out say the same to get a new one in and running.
6 hous total. Give it a go yourself.

Just fill in your V5 as mentioned above with the new engine serial numbers.

Yeah it ain't to complicated if you've got someone that knows a little their too help you.
Try www.24/7spares.com/co.uk? they will send your request to a load of scrappys who will email, phone or text you with quotes. I got an 8000 mile through them for 250 delivered including vat which isn't bad.
You should be able to get an engine fitted for about £200 if you phone around if it was me thought i'd learn a bit by doing it myself and spend the £200 getting a new clutch, timing belt, water pump etc

Why not try Cliospares in Wolves (Now 4ashes renault specialists)...they have engines and may be able to do this sort of thing.

They're contactable on 01902 790123.

Crazyclio motortec on mount pleasent in quarry bank (where energized were) would be able to do a straight swap. I've spoken to them loads and they fixed my exhaust on the clio, top guys. They are jap specilists mainly, but would be fine doing a straight swap, as I said, top guys, cant recommend them enough.

if its just a straight swap id give it a go yourself if you have teh time, for your first time you could do it over a weekend no problem.

best thing to do is drop the engine down, get a couple of mates round to lift the shell over teh engine and then lift it back over the new engine, you could hire an engine lift but thats more money.

the 1.2 engine isn't that heavy just strip gearbox etc off it and lift it out of the car much easier.

Yep if its an identiao engine just replug it all in.

You should easily be able to remove the engine upwards. Disconnect the gearbox all associted wiring and lift it upwards.
